Design Challenge 2009
Birthday Parties at the Washington PavilionHave your next birthday party at the Washington Pavilion! We do the work, you have the fun!
First, choose a party theme:
-
Princess Party: Decorate a crown and wand and have your face painted. (ages 3 -8)
-
Mask Making: Make and decorate your own plaster mask with paint and feathers and act in a short masked skit. (ages 7 -14)

Clay Studio: Create with clay and have your pieces glazed and fired. All pieces require two weeks until pick-up if fired; otherwise air dry clay can be used. (all ages)

Music Studio: Choose from making your own box guitar or rain stick and a harmonica. Have a jam session when instruments are complete. (ages 7-14)

Fear Factor: Make your hair stand on end with the electrostatic fanatic, dare to eat fried crickets (optional), touch a reptile, and experience the Bed of Nails. (ages 5 -14)

Dinosaurs! Excavate your own toy dinosaur. See and touch live dinosaur cousins (reptiles). Play dinosaur games. (ages 4 -8)

Fly High: Build and launch compressed air rockets and have a paper airplane competition. (ages 7 -14)

Glamour Girls: Use the properties of solids and liquids to create your own flavored lip balm, scented bath salts, and decorate your own make-up bag. (ages 7-14)
Next, choose a party package:
Package A
Includes a trained party host, decorated private room, themed activities, game, special gift for the birthday child and goody bag for each guest from the Pavilion Discovery Store, admission to the Kirby Science Discovery Center, two large one-topping pizzas and three pitchers of pop. This package lasts approximately 3 hours, depending on time spent on your own in the Science Center.
Fee: $175 + tax for 10 participants and two chaperones (required). Additional guests - $10 + tax each. Additional pizzas - $12 + tax, additional pitchers of pop - $2 + tax.
Package B
Includes a trained party host, decorated private room, themed activities, game, special gift for the birthday child from the Pavilion Discovery Store and admission to the Kirby Science Discovery Center. This package lasts approximately 2 1/2 hours, including the games and activities with the party host, then time on your own in the science center.
Fee: $145 + tax for 10 participants and two chaperones (required). Additional guests - $8 + tax each.
Package C
Lasts approximately 1 1/2 hours and includes a trained party host, decorated private room, special gift for the birthday child from the Pavilion Discovery Store, themed activities and a game.
Fee: $125 + tax for 10 participants and two chaperones (required). Additional guests - $7 + tax each.
Add the current Wells Fargo CineDome film to any party package for just $2.75 per person.
Parents may bring cake and beverages (no other outside food is allowed) and are responsible for all flatware and paperware required for it. Small birthday cake candles are allowed, but helium balloons are not.
Times: Parties are available on Fridays at 5:00 pm, or Saturdays and Sundays at 11:00 am or 2:00 pm.
