Off the Fridge

"Off the Fridge" is an impressive ever-changing art gallery at the Washington Pavilion of Arts and Science which exhibits the works of area students. Through this program budding area artists are given the opportunity to display their work in public space.

"Off the Fridge" was started in the fall of 2005 and since then over one thousand children have had their artwork displayed. Area schools and daycares are eligible to exhibit their one of a kind masterpieces for one month. During that month, there is an artist reception typically held on the first Saturday of the month.

You can find "Off the Fridge" artwork on the second floor lobby of the Washignton Pavilion.

What does Off the Fridge look like?

Past "Off the Fridge" exhibits include the Eugene Field A+ Elementary in February of 2009. Teacher Robyn R. Raszkowski had her students create artwork which related to a famous South Dakotan.  For the "Off the Fridge" reception students dress up as their famous person and recited a biography about his or her life.  The theme for the Eugene Field show was "Weaving Through the Curriculum" which demonstrated what it means to be an A+ school.  Below is a link to video from that exhibit.
